Lake Fork Canyon is a conduit between the now abandoned town of Thistle and an area known as Indianola. The road, although rough, dusty and narrow, is spectacular from beginning to end. The location of this painting is about 12 miles up the canyon from Thistle and it is dominated by cottonwood trees. During the fall, these trees turn yellow and make for a beautiful forest that dominates a large area. Over the years there have been some floods and a few fires, but it seems like these trees are immortal. I love to paint them.
